Douglas Tomkins adored nature and extreme sports. He wanted to devote all his time to traveling and conquering peaks. Two years later, the store was sold to the enterprising Kenneth Klopp, who quickly opened a factory in Berkeley and began to develop the brand. He was joined by artist and designer David Alcorn, who developed the famous logo that is still used today.

The North Face logo consists of a slightly tilted quarter circle with two lines passing inside it. This image is an interpretation of Half Dome, a rock formation in Yosemite National Park, from the west side, with the purely northern (or northwestern) face of Half Dome on the left.
